Taking over-the-counter sleep aids for longer than 2 weeks can:
- induce tolerance dependence
- cause side effects later in life (ex. early onset dementia or memory loss)

SD: As long as you get your 7hrs, it's fine. It's important to consume your last meal at least 3-4hrs before going to sleep. Otherwise, it can cause acid reflux. The more food you have on your stomach, the more likely the acid will rise into your esophagus and wake you up with heartburn.

Karen: mentioned reading about fasting for 12-15hrs and that when you sleep, you're body is supposed to repair, but it can't repair if it's trying to digest food (Dr. Sampson agreed)
