Karen: "We spend a trillion plus dollars. We get ignored because they feel like we're going to spend money anyway. I've said this from the beginning. This economy, which is a slave economy, needs our dollars."
Drew: "Look at all the hoops that we're jumping through to make sure that we have trade deals in place...if there are all of these government trade deals that we're doing with countries and empires that are smaller than black folks in America, what does that say about how we need to start using our dollars and how we need to start using our voice?"
Karen: "They need to have trade deals with us."
Drew: "We should be demanding more reciprocal relationships with the organizations with which we spend our dollars. So, if a company doesn't have any black people on their website, if they completely misrepresent black people in their marketing and in their advertising, if you can't get that product in your black neighborhood and you have to drive or take the bus to go get that product somewhere else in another neighborhood, You gotta ask yourself, is this money that I have in my pocket,
is it broke money or is it woke money?"
It is very hard to go an entire weekend and only spend money with black owned businesses. You have to be intentional about it. You have to think about it.
