We eat often times to get filled up, as opposed to getting nutritional value. And a lot of times, what will happen is, that you eat that ice cream or bag of chips and 20 minutes later, you're looking for the next thing to pop in your mouth. This is where we run into trouble.

Finding masks are hard, what material can I use to make my own? Can I use an old t-shirt or cotton towel?
A cotton handkerchief is penetrable. Find something with a denser material or finer fabric. Maybe if you layer 2 of them it will provide more protection. You don't want something sheer. Use something thicker.
You don't want materials that are going to soak up moisture. You don't want a barrier that's going to become moist and wet and itself become it's own little petri dish. You want something that's going to be breathable, evaporate, and still have a barrier, but not soaking things up.
It's looking like it can be anywhere from 3-4 hours to a day, depending on the condition of it.
If you're dealing with a high fever (ex. 102 or 103), you should go to the hospital. That's where they can treat you appropriately.
Don't start taking all types of ibuprofen because it can do a number of things. It can damage kidneys and cause ulcers long-term.
