While Sam Cooke rose to stardom as a soul singer, his outspoken views on civil rights drew attention that may have contributed to his death at age 33.
Advice from his dad:
1) You have to always be a change agent (no matter what your profession is).
In your daily work, try to change the community around you and move our culture forward.
2) You have to be a part of something larger than yourself.
A lot of times we get caught up in our own successes.
3) Never ever argue with a fool because the people watching can't tell the difference.
