The trillion plus dollars that we spend annually, need to be redirected into our community. We need to have more focus on neighborhood watches. More community-based security. More businesses in our communities so that are kids can be employed so that we are not financially insecure. We should save our money and invest it so that we are not at anyone's mercy.

Ann Curry:
We are not in a post-truth era. Culture trumps truth. When you are apart of a group and you feel defensive about your group, you will defend your group and you won't believe something that is being said about them.
We are not in a post-truth era. Culture trumps truth. When you are apart of a group and you feel defensive about your group, you will defend your group and you won't believe something that is being said about them.
So, you're with a bunch of your friends and someone says that person in your group did that and that's illegal. The first thing that you are going to do is, defend him or her. (What are you saying? Who do you think you are, saying that about my friend?) That's what happens and that's where we are on an extreme level.
People are not hearing each other because they're only hearing and protecting their culture. And this is the problem. So, are we in a post-truth era? No. We cannot survive without truth. Truth is what saves us. We have to recognize where we are and why we're here.
