"THE R.U.N. 2016 CHALLENGE"
RACIAL UNITY NATIONWIDE
SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 11, 2016
September 11th will forever be a reminder of one of the worst days in our nation's history. A day that we will "Never Forget"! In 2014, President Obama declared this day as "Patriot Day and National Day of Service and Remembrance". With the desire to improve racial unity amongst our nation and to remember this day with patriotism, SpeedRaceing would like for you to join us in our first "R.U.N. 2016 Challenge".
On Sunday, September 11th, we're challenging everyone to join hands with one or more individuals outside of your racial background and run for 9 minutes and 11 seconds.
Please hold hands the entire time and wear red, white and/or blue. Where? Anywhere. Home. Work. School. Church. Please run at a pace that is comfortable for each participant. Busy day? Do the run on another date before September 11th. Bad weather? Run in-place indoors or on side-by-side treadmills if possible at a gym. Kids? Yes, they can do it! Please keep safety in mind at all times. Injured, physically-challenged, or wheelchair-bound? Place the "R.U.N. 2016" sign in your lap, say "The Pledge of Allegiance" and sing patriotic songs. Suggested songs are "The National Anthem" and "America the Beautiful".
Take a photo at the end of the run and include the sign below. Post it to us on our Facebook Page and include your city & state. The goal is to get photos from every state.
We also ask that everyone remember to observe a moment of silence beginning at 8:46am Eastern Daylight Time to honor the victims of September 11, 2001. It is also a Day of Service and should be honored with our volunteer services. As a suggestion, you could volunteer at a specific location as a group and then do the run together. Thank you for your participation!
