Confession Time! I did the unthinkable this year. I had family over and did NOT stress out about the house. Usually, I drive myself crazy trying to make it look "picture-perfect". If I ran out of time, I would break open the "emergency clean-up" kit. Some of you are familiar with it. Throw everything in the closet, squeeze the door shut and place a sign on it that says, "Handle broken. Don't open!" Then you grab the rest of the stuff, place it in a corner, throw a sheet over it and pretend it's a table.
Another confession...I didn't cook. We ate out a couple of times and I also bought take-out. ...AND IT WAS GREAT!!
Last year, I almost fell asleep in the shower while everyone was ringing the doorbell. I was exhausted from cleaning. Then, I missed out on some great conversations because I was cooking. This year, fuhgeddaboudit!! I actually sat down and did NOT play hostess. ...AND IT WAS GREAT!!!
Last confession...I will admit it, I was a little stressed out at first when my parents arrived and things were still out. I had several unfinished projects lying around the house but I didn't want to throw everything in a box to hide it. Each one is an "organized mess" that I can leisurely finish little by little this week. In the meantime, I'm going to spend more time with my family and throw the Excedrin in the trash. HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE!!!
Some of you might still be stuck, I mean, still have family with you for the rest of the week. Here's some "old skool" music to enjoy with them. The playlist includes Earth, Wind, & Fire, KC & The Sunshine Band and many more. I know my parents are going to LOVE it!!
One of my gifts to my family was the gift of art & fun. I gave them art paper, some paint and a picture of a silly cartoon Christmas tree. We had to pick a partner and work together. My husband and his mom did the one on the left. They decided to draw hair on it, add some parsley and then delcared themselves "The Winners".
Did anybody say it was a contest?
My father-in-law and I did the one in the middle. Cute & Quirky! The kids did the one on the right. Yes, they kicked it up several notches. You gotta love Santa on the roof. It was a lot of fun and I hope it inspires you to do the same with your family.
I included the clipart below for you to download. ENJOY!!

My husband knows that the perfect gift includes chocolate.
On the left, "Dark Chocolate Pineapple Almond Ginger Bark".
In the middle, "Dark Chocolate Cranberry Pumpkin Seed Bark".
On the right, "Dark Chocolate Cinnamon Pecan Bark".
I had some for the first time last year at Wegman's in Rochester, NY.
Now I can enjoy it again. One bark a day will keep the stress away!
